💰The BIG Day💰
America’s golden age is looking more and more like the Gilded Age.
SCOTUS opening‼️: Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas face increased pressure to step aside ahead of a potential Republican loss in the midterms.
Look back🔙: We’ve been predicting this for weeks. Watch here.
Today: Senate Majority Leader John Thune says he is ready to confirm a new pick quickly.
Watch tonight📺: Sarah Isgur, who just published “Last Branch Standing: A Potentially Surprising, Occasionally Witty Journey Inside Today’s Supreme Court” — a must-read for anybody who cares about the court
Booking note📝: We’ve been trying to get Sarah on the show for years, but she’s under contract at ABC — tune in, this will be a good interview
The Alaska strategy📃: Sadly, Trump doesn’t seem to have much interest in winning the war with Iran — so he will make it go away.
🤷Much like Trump couldn’t get a peace deal in Ukraine, he made it go away.
Look back🔙: Ahead of the Putin summit in Alaska, Trump raised the stakes to a near fever pitch — even had B-2 bombers fly over.
‼️Putin did exactly what the Iranians are doing
🗣️Trump threatened more and promised a vague two-week timeline with agreements to talk
📅For those keeping count, that was 34 weeks ago.
💸Trump never dropped the hammer on Putin’s oil industry that funds the war
🛢️In fact, he quietly loosened sanctions on Russian oil because of the Iran price hike.
Present day📅: When Trump wants to get rid of a story or crisis, he makes maximalist threats and celebrates negotiations and then keeps pushing back the deadline.
Be fair⚖️: Erick Erickson is out with a must-read about some of the other benefits to Trump’s Iran War — “A Solid Strategic Decision”
5D Chess♟️: A way for Trump would be to get a few Republicans to flip and get Congress to pass a war powers resolution forbidding further military action — not perfect but he could then (rightly) blame Democrats.
Watch tonight 📺: Sen. Ted Budd, R-N.C., on whether Trump can just make the Iran war go away — we know the Iranians would love nothing more.
Whimper vs. Bang
‼️Republicans told us for a year to wait for today — April 15, Tax Day — and we would see the arrival of America’s golden age.
💰Golden rather than gilded — because everyone, not just the rich, would get in on riches.
Here we are‼️: Trump is facing the same problem as President Biden — Americans aren’t happy because prices are up.
Good news👍: The S&P 500 and Nasdaq hit a record.
The S&P 500 closed higher by 0.8%
🤦And the administration spent the day playing defense.
🎤The treasury secretary pulled the old “price gouging” threat when explaining gas prices might be down by Labor Day
🎤The interior and agriculture secretary held an embarrassing news conference on Capitol Hill.
🎤The press secretary touted big refunds because of no taxes on tips or overtime.
🗣️They all had the same message
👍Trump’s economy — the tariffs, deregulation and tax cuts are working
Good read📰: The Wall Street Journal writes, “Americans Are Getting Big Tax Cuts, Whether They Know It or Not”
🤷Certainly for many, they are working — but for many, they are not
Example‼️: The average tax refund is $3,462 — but how much will the increase in gas prices cost the average American?
📉The economy is how people feel, and right now, people feel bad. Let me show you why:
⛽Gas is $4.11 per gallon
🥗The average household now spends about $170 per week on groceries — up from roughly $120 per week in 2020, according to the Food Industry Association
🏠Typical home prices have jumped from about $329,000 in early 2020 to over $405,000 today.
💰If you made $100,000 10 years ago, you have to make around $139,320 today to have the same lifestyle.
📈The cost of raising a kid has risen to more than $303,000.
Been here‼️: Trump now faces Biden’s problem — an economy working on paper but not politically.
📰Neil Irwin from Axios writes it in “Americans hate the 2026 economy”:
✏️“The Trump administration faces the same dilemma that dragged down the Biden presidency: trying to boost confidence in the economy at a time when Americans’ mood is deeply sour.”
Political reality‼️: Economic talking points don’t work — the economy is how people feel.
Watch tonight📺: Ryan Cummings from Biden’s economic team and Steve Moore from Trump’s economic team on why, no matter how “good” things are for some, most Americans feel left behind.

❓How exactly does California Prop 12 hurt American farmers?
🧑⚖️Prop 12 mandates that only pork and eggs produced with expensive, specialty processes can be sold in California.
🤏California imports most of its pork and eggs from other states
🐖In order to sell in California, farmers across the country need to refit their facilities
💸This is expensive, millions of dollars per farm
🧔All this gets passed on to consumers
‼️Action Item: Pass the Farm Bill. Bring down costs. Don’t let California impose higher food prices on everyone.

‼️We can now conclude — Congress won’t police itself.
The House “ethics” committee appears to serve as a way to protect members rather than find the truth.
Today📅: Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., says she will provide documents implicating more members in sexual misconduct.
Remember💭: There is a taxpayer slush fund to pay out sexual harassment allegations that protects the alleged harasser
Right now‼️: Two Republicans and one Democrat face sexual misconduct allegations
➕Plus, one Democrat for stealing $5 million in COVID relief funds
Both sides‼️: This goes way beyond today — former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy once said it was well-known you should never let young female staffers hang out alone with Matt Gaetz or Eric Swalwell — nobody is surprised
Follow the money💰: Those who aren’t chasing interns are busy with their investment accounts – members of Congress with full-time jobs make Warren Buffett look bad.
The often-promised ban on congressional stock trading will get passed the morning of a sunrise in the west.
Result: A dysfunctional Congress only makes the president — of either party — more powerful.
Watch tonight📺: Marc Short, Ameshia Cross and Laurie Watkins on what it would take to revamp Congress and why it will likely never happen.
A Cancer on the Left‼️
🚨A new cancer is spreading in the Democratic Party — his name is Hasan Piker.
For those who don’t know who this is, he’s a “progressive” streamer on Twitch.
He got a hero’s welcome at Yale this week — his speech said we needed to end the American empire.
🗣️Here is the kind of person Piker is — you can make your own judgment:
🎤Piker: “America deserved 9/11, dude f*** it im saying it”
🎤“It doesn’t matter if f*** rape happened on October 7th. It doesn’t change the dynamic for me even this much.”
🎤“I don’t have any patriotism in my heart... for America.”
🎤”The fall of the USSR was one of the greatest CATASTROPHES of the 20th century!”
🤷You would think these comments would have Democrats running for the hills
🤦Yet some Democrats are warmly embracing and protecting him— some even inviting him to speak on their campaign trail to help with the midterms
🎤NBC News: “You’ve made several appearances on a show hosted by socialist commentator Hasan Piker…Do you have any regrets about appearing on his show?”
🎤Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif.: “None, and I would go again.”
To be clear‼️: Not all Democrats are embracing him — once again, Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., is the outlier
🎤Fetterman: “[Democrats] are embracing...someone like [Hasan] Piker...someone absolutely is a cheerleader for Hamas.”
Flip side 🔄: Republicans also have this cancer problem with Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes
BUT👍: Their party leader, Trump, is cutting the cancer out and actively talking about how terrible they are.
No Republican politician who cares about their political future will be seen with them.
🤦But with Democrats, the cancer is clearly spreading, with half the party embracing it and the other half too scared to say anything.
