I've had the same conversation myself in Lyfts over the years. With immigrants mostly. A couple Caucasians. 1 said he was former military. Looked it. They all liked it better here. Most had family here in the states/ city too. Thank you for the encouraging perspective on how great the opportunities in America are, from one who wasn't born here. His perseverance in the face of adversity is inspiring. What a show you have for us!
Re: Ocbai and Uber. I've had some great conversations with Uber and Lyft drivers. One guy was a car dude who clued me into Turo for expensive (and exotic) car rentals (I'm a sports car guy). Another on his trucking company (he and his brother) with a side gig, giving me insight on that part of the economy most people only glance at ("Smokey and the Bandit" it's not!). The Uber and Lyft guys are friendlier and approachable as opposed to cab drivers (30+ years living in a major city as support for this contention).
Re terror attack in UK: Reminders of the danger we face are always good (in a way). We should bear in mind the Iranian rulers don't manage all of them, nor do they want to. Third-party "contractors" and converts give you plausible deniability. The IRGC and the ruling elites want and need these "contractors" for that reason.

Re Bessant's mostly unreported comments (hat tip to the Wall St Journal that did cover it). If accurate and true, the Trump administration will accomplish something nobody from Jimmy Carter on ever did. To be fair, several of Mr. Carter's replacements had a few other things higher on the list (like the Soviet Union's direct and indirect actions) that they deemed more urgent. Not taking any party line or stand, I hope Mr. Bessant is right. Ditto Russia if it means Putin is gone and no other Czar wannabe replaces him.
