Look back🔙: Those warning of “authoritarians” sweeping across the world pointed first to Orban of Hungary — Tucker Carlson went to visit him. Democracy is dying!!!!
👍Turns out people didn’t like him and voted him out — good — that is how it’s supposed to work.
What I am thinking💭: Where are all the MS NOW pearl-clutchers who said Orban would rule forever and ruin democracy in Europe!?!?

Prediction💭: Like Orban, Trump will leave in January of 2029, and America’s democracy will continue to shine as a beacon of hope for the world over.
Swalwell standard‼️: Democrats were quick to demand Rep. Eric Swalwell drop out of the California governor’s race over sexual assault allegations — until now, he had led polls.
New standard 🤦: He must drop out because of the allegations, but most Democrats have no problem with him staying in office as a congressman, because otherwise, Republicans would get more of a cushion.
Strait Up Problem‼️: Trump’s options keep getting worse for dealing with Iran.
As we told you in Friday’s “War Notes,” Vice President JD Vance faced an impossible task in Pakistan.
Reality☑️: Iran wants a nuclear weapon — they are playing a 1,400-year game.
Look back 🔙: We told you on Day 3 of the war that it would all come down to the strait.
Now: Trump wants to blockade the strait to cut off Iran’s oil exports and starve them of cash.
Will he block Chinese ships?
Why didn’t he do this when the war started?

The Problem With Being President‼️
🗣️Trump is fighting everybody right now — even Hitler didn’t fight with the pope.
Trump is.
Why❓: Trump keeps trying to give Americans what they want — they don’t want to pay the price to get it.
Iran📊: A CBS poll over the weekend showed a vast majority of Americans understand the threat from Iran
📉Then look at Trump’s approval numbers on the war — it is almost an inverse picture.
🤷Americans love what Trump is doing — just not how he is doing it.
The problem‼️: Iran knows this —
💣They won’t give up their nukes or open the strait.
💰They won’t stop funding terror groups or trying to kill Americans.
💥It must be done by force — thus Americans will die, and we will pay higher prices.
Americans get uncomfortable, and the pope starts lecturing the world about peace.
Immigration‼️: Trump found out the problem isn’t limited to Iran — Americans by very large margins want illegal immigrants deported.
🤦Then they saw what it took to do it — they got uncomfortable
🤦Iran and Democrats — like Iran with nukes, Democrats won’t give up sanctuary cities, etc.
Once again, the pope got involved.
Difference👀: During the immigration fight, Trump could back down with little cost — he just moved on.
On cue‼️: Hardline immigration folks don’t like it
📰Axios headlines “MAGA allies say Trump is going soft on deportations,” writing:
“An angry coalition of conservatives say President Trump is flirting with betraying his biggest campaign promise on mass deportations — and the voters who put him there.”
‼️Backing down with Iran, as we’ve seen this weekend, is a disaster, so now, he’s suggesting a quasi-blockade of the strait.
Lesson🧑🏫: There are lots of things Americans want but refuse to pay for — they would rather enjoy the status quo.
Truth☑️: If left unchecked, Iran, immigration, and the national debt, you name it, will grow like a cancer — the price to get rid of it later will only grow.
Fixing any three of those would be a legacy-defining moment for Trump — but it requires doing hard things and taking real hits over a sustained period.
That’s not known as Trump’s usual playbook
